A new chapter in leadership and brand

We kicked off the year by welcoming back Eirik Bergh as Group Director for Europe. Bergen Plastics AS and Heger AS, acquired in November last year, became an integral part of Skanem Group and were renamed to Skanem Bergen AS and Skanem Rjukan AS. They are now the foundation for further expansion within Plastic Packaging in Europe. ?

This summer, we launched our rebranding of Skanem to reflect its evolving focus on sustainable packaging solutions.?Skanem's sustainability agenda is a strategic blueprint that outlines how we intend to conduct our business in harmony with the planet, while fostering sustainable growth.?Our agenda is comprised of three main pillars - Care for Climate / Care for People / Reduce material impact - as measurable targets, and a foundational principle of Collaboration for change??

Skanem?Africa –?Expansion and sustainability??

For?Skanem?Africa it has been a year of growth and sustainability.??During 2024,?Skanem?Africa has opened:?

• a new, large, state of the art factory in Nairobi, Kenya,??
• a local Skanem company and production unit in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania??
• and a local Skanem company and logistics center in Kampala, Uganda.?

?With those expansions, we have a solid platform for growth in East Africa and are well equiped to serve the region with innovative and sustainable solutions.

Skanem India – Core values and awards

Through Skanem India's four production sites in Mumbai, Baddi, Guwahati & Delhi, they continue to help the customers reach their goals; in packaging and sustainability. During 2024, Skanem India has:

• Won the Star Special Performance Award from M/s Kenvue for ‘Flawless Execution of Customer Service & Supply Reliability for Critical Packaging materials (Labels).’

• Showcased their commitment to social responsibility through activities like distributing food and clothes to underprivileged children and senior citizens.

During Label Expo India 2024, Skanem India showcased our new brand and innovative label solutions.

Sustainability milestones

Sustainability has always been at the heart of everything we do, and this year we’ve made tangible strides. Skanem Rjukan AS earned the prestigious Environmental Lighthouse (Milj?fyrt?rn) certification, and also started ISO 22000 certification preparations.??

Showcasing Innovation at Scanpack and PackPointNordic?

We participated at Scanpack Gothenburg in October and PackPointNordic in Malm?, Sweden in November, where we showcased our sustainable plastic packaging innovations and explored the future of the packaging industry.?

At the end of 2024 and moving in to 2025??

PPWR will be a key guiding regulation for our direction.

Collaboration for change will be key and therefore the Skanem team collaborate with partners and stakeholders to make our sustainability roadmap a reality.?
