A year from now. Attitude is everything.

A year from now. Attitude is everything.

Three years ago I wrote this post, and I felt after the last week that I have had professionally, and the fact that it is national registered dietitian day here in the USA, it was a perfect moment to update and share with you all the attitude I hope you can take with you in life:

12 years ago today I would have been walking around a ward at the Alfred hospital in Melbourne Australia with the only clear thought about my future career being that I knew I wasn't destined to be a clinical dietitian..

(..one of my teachers actually laughed at me and wished me luck (insincerely) when I said I wasn't going to apply for a hospital job when I graduated...);

11 years ago I would have been running a private practice in St Kilda, Melbourne;

10 years ago I would have been consulting as a public health nutritionist to Nutrition Australia;

9 years ago I would have been managing nationally for BUPA all their corporate nutrition initiatives;

8 years ago I would have been developing and recruiting dietitians for Australia's first nutrigenomic weight management program;

7 years ago I would have been in NYC finishing my entrepreneurship studies and writing my first published book on the connection between gut health and mood;

6 years ago I would have been in American Samoa volunteering at the Department of Health to change their food stamp program;

5 years ago I would be in NYC consulting to a branding agency that ended up with me in the head office with the president of Weight Watchers North America telling the team what was nutritionally wrong with their program;

4 years ago today I was lucky enough to be in Japan on my first ever media tour;

3 years ago I was in my apartment in Sydney Australia recipe developing for the worlds number one kangaroo meat company so that they can promote healthy dietitian approved meals!

2 years ago I was back in New York City conjuring up how I could bring to life my vision of a prebiotic and mood food company.

1 year ago today I was in Melbourne, Australia having just launched Uplift Food and the Daily Uplifter - getting ready to dive head first into the world of start up founder.

Today I am in New York City having just announced a minority investment by the worlds leading snacking company, Mondelez International, and have just brought on board a brilliant team to help me bring my vision to fruition. an

Moral of this story...we have no idea where we could be in a years time from now!

Embrace the adventure, keep an open mind, and always have a deep passion for the things you invest your time and energy into.

...but above all else, trust yourself.

There isn't an end game for happiness, there's today, possibly tomorrow...and if we are all lucky, maybe even a year from now!

So cool so true ! So thoughtful !

Thanks for sharing. I am personally a little frustrated with current job prospects after finishing a Medical Science degree (Nutrition) last year and discovering there are no jobs in the Central Queensland region. This has given me some hope.
