A Year to Forget ...but not my Ethos

It never happened before, they say

I agreed, at least not as far as I can recall

A moment to think of the past, they said

and soon I began listing all my follies

Take as second to reflect, they advised

it took an eternity as the mirror was a maze

Do you have a minute, gently they asked

I pondered over it for far too long

It increases by the Hour, they said of the cases

I looked askance at the Hour glass of time

Have you seen today’s News, they prodded

It spoke of the events the day before

Tomorrow will be another day, they promised

I was looking far away into the future

This too shall pass, from the scriptures, they quoted

It gave me lots of hope & succour

Look here, it is a year to forget … they reminded

But, I wrote, never ever the ethos of my life …. 

Why are you so obstinate, they messaged

Simple, I said ...as only with it (& a mask),

.......I can breathe and live life ....
