Year End Spending Frenzy: Stick to your Budget and start 2017 on a Fit Financial Literacy Foundation!

It’s become quite normal that people say “earn it spend it track it”, at least there is “track it” in that saying and one can only hope it actually means “track your budget”. At this time of the year, being a spending frenzy period, many are caught in all types of debt mainly because of the lack of planning around their finances. Building wealth does not start with just saving and using one’s money wisely, but it starts with financial literacy which encompasses so many aspects of financial awareness: Budgeting, Debt Management, Retirement Planning, Savings (including emergency funding – helps avoid unnecessary debt), Investments, Family Protection etc. Let us not forget these commitments  or fall short of them due to the seasonal spending frenzy, more so if the spending was not budgeted for.

Avoid the Debt Trap! Stick to your budget. And if that exercise did not go well in 2016, make 2017 a year of understanding your own finances so you can start building your wealth on a good Financial Literacy Foundation.
