Year End Message

As 2018 draws to a close, the end of a year is always a good time to look back, reflecting on achievements, and to look forward, to see what we still need to accomplish. I am of the view that we have come through a year that has been filled with both challenges and victories. How reassuring it’s been to know that we can count on each and every member of our staff regardless of what faces us.

On behalf of Shumani Industrial Equipment, please allow me to extend my personal and genuine appreciation to each and every one of our staff for their valuable contributions to the rapid growth of the organisation. Working with you during the past three trendsetting years has been a pleasure and I am proud to have you all on board.

The fundamental driver of the company’s success this year, and will always be, is our people. Their performance and loyalty is critical. It makes me proud to mention that in 2018 we have once again prevailed and enjoyed many successes. We have been able to keep and grow our long list of blue chip clients, which is testimony to our product quality, but more importantly the dedicated support service.

The long list of our blue chip clients now includes Coca Cola South Africa, AB In-Bev, Bell Equipment, Maxion Wheels, EnviroServ, Imperial, Transnet, Mechanical Assembly Product South Africa, Famous Brands, Bevcan, Multotec, American Embassy, Mpact Operations and GRE Investment, among others.

I am very proud to mention that we have amassed some record uptime at one of these clients. To give you an idea, we currently have a large fleet of 1 065 machines in service at Coca-Cola South Africa and SAB’s operations across the country. The large installed base of these forklifts is running at an unprecedented 98% uptime – yes 98%! This capacity utilisation is way more than the world benchmark.

So, what are we doing differently to achieve this record uptime? The foundation of it all is a matchless after sales service regime, complemented by a team of dedicated, well-trained technicians who adhere to a stringent service and maintenance regime. Above all, the passion and team effort from this group of technicians is incredible!

In conclusion, let’s all look ahead into the new year with confidence, hope and resilience. We know that there are vast problems ahead: a low growth economic environment; high costs of operation and generally low business confidence, among others. However, we also know that we have the right resources to prevail over those challenges. Together we can!
