Year End Corporate Philanthropy: The time to give is now!

As the end of the year approaches, many of us take time to reflect. We look at our corporation’s performance over the year and?begin planning for the new one. It’s a time for fun: colleagues smile more, dress for the holidays, share?employee lunches, plan secret Santas and, of course, receive bonuses.?

It’s also a time of year when philanthropy invites us to participate in something greater than ourselves. ?

We began work in Kenya nearly 20 years ago — I remember those first days. I was there, living among the children who depended on Horizon for their daily needs. And I remember, long ago, when those needs outgrew our available resources. Simply put, more was required. But where could we find these resources, to the degree in which we needed them??

We found the answer within corporations — or what we at Horizon like to call?shared-value aligned partners.?

So, we began the search for corporations who:?

• Desired to promote the welfare of others,?
• Empowered their staff and clients,?
• Believed in breaking cycles of poverty inside and outside of their geographical position, and?
• Wanted to make a direct impact toward orphaned children, vulnerable children and at-risk youth — their communities, and families.?

Our search was only the beginning. Slowly but steadily, corporations learned about Horizon and began to partner with us in a way that had profound impact. They provided?donations to support employees, social enterprises, basic necessities for vulnerable children, mentorship, trade training, higher education and more...?

Because of this generous level of participation, Horizon was able to create empowering programs where 100% of any donation goes directly to the ground — never held up in administrative costs — where orphaned children, vulnerable children and at-risk youth are rescued, restored and empowered through sustainable community.??

We are again inviting all shared-value aligned partners to consider Horizon as their place to give this year.
