Year End Analysis

I haven't been using LinkedIn at all in the last few months. Here is my summary:
When it started: I opened a LinkedIn account years ago, as a healthcare practitioner. It had no use to me. In 2021 I had some success with job interviews for remote healthcare admin support positions in some biotech startups. No job came out of it and I left again. In the summer of 2022 I started a data analytics program, I was very hesitant to do so. I could tell how hard it is going to be to get a job. So I went back to LinkedIn and updated my profile. I started posting to get exposure, in hopes of future job opportunities, and I experienced a lot of reactions! So I kept going, and realized that I also really like creating (basic) content for people like me. I am certainly grateful for what it allowed me to achieve.
How it ended: After continuing to be active daily and seeing a lot of support, I also gradually lowered my engagement, as there was way too much content on LinkedIn that I just didn't like.
Mainly- the amount of people trying to "build a brand" and gain followers, throwing up non-stop content, quantity exceeding quality.
I got quite a bit of criticism for saying it out loud...
I also did not get many job opportunities. I've been observing many others and they were also left with no actual data job. Massive layoffs happened, in a field that was already hard to enter into.
But I did attend the 2023 DataConnect conference in Columbus, Ohio, which was a great experience.
And I did enjoy getting to know many professionals in the field and reading and engaging in their content, and I learned a lot.

Since I chose to explore this as a career out of great interest and a sense of compatibility, I haven't completely left. But I definitely left LinkedIn for a while as it was just a waste of my time at that point.
Time will tell what happens next.
So, Your wellness tip... Valuing your time and choosing quality over quantity when possible and reasonable, and consider if what you do serve you as well as it serves who allows you to do it.
