A Year of Embracing Trust

Every year since 2019, I’ve chosen a Word of the Year – a single word that serves as my guiding principle or theme for the year ahead. This practice was introduced to me by a dear friend and mentor, Alexa Huchingson , and it’s something I’ve cherished ever since. Choosing a single word feels more achievable and meaningful than setting a list of resolutions, which can often feel overwhelming or fleeting. My word acts as a compass, guiding my decisions, mindset, and focus throughout the year.?

For 2024, my Word of the Year was Trust.?

This word holds deep significance for me as 2023 ended with a lot of uncertainty in my personal life. While pursuing a part-time passion project, I had a particularly challenging experience with a dishonest businessman, which left me questioning a lot. Amid that turmoil, I felt the Lord consistently nudging me toward a significant change: moving back to Ohio. It was a leap of faith I didn’t think I was ready for, especially because I truly loved living in Nashville. Leaving behind a city I adored wasn’t easy, but I knew I had to trust in the Lord’s plan.?

Fast forward to today, and I can confidently say it was the best decision I could have made. These past six months in Columbus have been incredibly rewarding. Being closer to family has brought me immense joy, and I’ve embraced the opportunity to reconnect with a city I once called home. From meeting new people to getting involved in new organizations (Rock City Church and the Dream Center), this move has opened doors I never expected. Even better, I’ve been able to continue working with WestPac Wealth Partners in a role I absolutely love, which has provided stability and purpose in this season of change.?

Choosing Trust as my word has been a powerful reminder to rely on faith, especially when the path forward feels unclear. Taking that leap was scary, but it’s proven to be worth every moment of doubt. I’m beyond excited for what lies ahead in 2025, and I’m carrying this theme of trust with me into every new opportunity and challenge.?
