A Year After Thyroid Surgery - Celebrating One Year CancerFree

Wow, can you believe it? It's been a whole year since my surgery, and what a journey it has been!

On May 28, 2023, I took a huge step toward a healthier future by having my right thyroid removed. This wasnt a decision I made lightly. I trusted my doctors at King Hussein Cancer Center and followed my gut, believing that this step would help me have a healthier future.

The day of the surgery is still there in my memory. The surgery was very early in the morning. I remember waking up with a mix of nervousness and hope. I woke my sister up to come at 6:30 am, and even though I was terrified, I was laughing like always... typical me when I freak out, hahaha. I was surrounded by a caring team of medical professionals who assured me that everything would be alright. The procedure went smoothly ??

Then came June 8, 2023, a day I’ll never forget. The results came in, and my heart filled with joy. The cancer was detected in a very small percentage and hadnt spread to other parts of my body. It was a glimmer of hope, a sign that my recovery was on the right track. Even more incredible, the cancer hadn't affected my overall health. My doctors told me I wouldnt need any more medication. Hearing those words was like having a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. I could finally breathe freely again. ?? I truly believe it was all because God wanted it to be that way. I was happy with God's choice and believed that everything happened for the best.

This past year has changed me a lot, both physically and emotionally. It taught me valuable lessons about how strong the human spirit can be. I’ve learned the importance of taking care of myself, having regular health checkups, and staying positive even when things are tough.

Today, I am living in Kuwait, starting a new chapter in my life. Although I miss my people back in Jordan, I feel amazing both health wise and mentally. Being in a new place has given me a fresh perspective and renewed energy. The support and love from my family, friends, and medical team have been amazing providing comfort and encouragement throughout this challenging time. Their belief in me helped keep me going. Living here has brought new experiences and challenges. I am grateful for the fresh start and the opportunities to grow and thrive.

Recovering from cancer has not been easy. It required a lot of strength, resilience, and determination. I still remember every step of the journey, the highs and lows, and the moments of doubt. But looking back, I realize how far I've come and how strong I've been. I’ve emerged stronger and more resilient, ready to take on whatever life throws my way.

I am happy to report that today, I am fine. Hopefully, I will stay this way, but of course, I am still doing regular tests and checkups to make sure everything is good. I feel positively strong.

I share my story with you all today not for sympathy, but to inspire and lift those who may be facing their health battles. I want to show that no matter how big the challenge is, we have the power within us to overcome and become stronger. Its not about the cancer defining us .. its about defining our own story, one of resilience, courage, and hope. ??

To anyone currently facing their health journey, I want to remind you that you are not alone. Reach out to your support system, lean on the love of your family and friends, and never underestimate the power of a positive mindset. Together, we are stronger!

Thank you for taking the time to read my story. I hope it brings a smile to your face and serves as a reminder that even in the face of adversity, we can find strength, courage, and resilience within ourselves.

Keep shining!
