Year #7, almost here...

hi ad tech people...so year #7, almost here... bold collective (fka bold screen media, llc) - still independent, still self-funded, still profitable. that's hard to do, but if you can do it, the end result, at least in my opinion, is that much sweeter.

as i always try and mention in these yearly posts/articles, i always want to first give thanks to the team and PEOPLE that make up bold collective, from Opn Media, SecondPage, AudioSpot, and our programmatic media buying arm we acquired last year, Pretio Interactive (now part of Opn Media). we are 15 people strong, and i am confident the PEOPLE here at bold collective are some the brightest, hardest working people in our industry. we don't hire for fluff, but rather for people that truly want to role up their sleeves, and make a huge impact to a growing business. we don't have investors, nor a board of advisors, we rely on our own unique talents, ideas, and ways to GET SHIT DONE. we don't have fancy client gifts, or endless t&e budgets, but we continue to fight for our clients and prove our value in our results. it's not a fair fight most of the time, but in the end, our success feels that much better.

in a down economy, and on the tail end of a global pandemic, we continued to hire, grow, promote, train and fund our business. we lost clients, but gained more, we lost some receivables with some clients going belly up, but we made up for it with new clients and new business. we continue to prove to ourselves and our clients that we are just as strong, more nimble, and as fair as some of our much larger competitors. we truly fight the uphill battle for brand dollars across three of the most competitive spaces: mobile, ctv, and audio.

we have been through major blockers in this weird world we all live in, like:

  • apple / google privacy (eg: skadnetwork)
  • more brand safety rules, vendors with fancier fraud best practices
  • new platforms, more SSPs, more DSPs, and more jumps to get to our clients

the strong survive. adapt or die. something else very cliché.
