Year #3, almost there...
So I wrote an article on year #1 for the business, and year #2 for the business...and now I reflect on year #3. Wow! Few major things have shifted in the digital video industry:
Content Consumption: Now, more than ever, users are consuming content across all screens and devices. Desktop is very scaleable still, but mobile web/app across smart phones and tablets, as well as connected TVs / OTT is booming as well! If brands don't have a cross-screen digital strategy, they will soon. If your business doesn't support all screens, you're missing the budgets.
Transparency is KING: We have always prided ourselves on being a very transparent company, so regulations like 'ads.txt' and 'invalid traffic (IVT)' were small bumps in the road for us, which unfortunately became much bigger bumps for others. Sticking to your core values, while building lifelong partnerships will ALWAYS payoff.
ADAPT or DIE (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZDBMfe3iPE): The digital ecosystem is ever-changing and your business must adapt and change with it. Stick to your core values, but adapt them to the new standards. If IVT is what brands are now scared of, come with a solution. If 'ads.txt' is the new shiny thing to speak on, roll it our network wide. We have 500+ domains with ads.txt, and are ready to rock!
Diversified Revenue Streams: Concentrations risks can come in many ways: partnerships, platforms, revenue streams, staff, etc. We rolled out two new profitable revenue streams this past year, and both are booming!
Lastly, and most importantly is the PEOPLE! Our people create our lifelong partnerships, our people drive the business forward, and our people are the reason we have been as successful as we have been.
