YCH India’s Innovator of the Year Employee Award

Meet Hari Babu, Operations Manager accorded with YCH India’s Innovator of the Year Employee Award attributes this acclamation to his inquisitive attitude

Hari Babu’s career with YCH India started 11 years ago. As an operations manager, Mr Hari Babu’s roles are to streamline operations?and to bridge communications between the operations arm of YCH Group with its technology arm, Y3 Technologies. He works in tandem with the business development team where he provides astute recommendations and provides solutions to enhance the proprietary solutions developed by YCH Group to better serve the customers.

“As a child, I enjoy Mathematics because the satisfaction of solving complex problems motivates me. As Albert Einstein put it, I have no particular talent, I am merely inquisitive.”

With that, it is no surprise that at work, he finds himself thriving in situations that daunts productivity especially in the supply chain and logistics industry where efficiency is a core attribute to win the game.

One of such instances was one of our key customers in YCH India needed to deliver urgent spare parts to their customers across the country at short notices, typically within one to two hours. The requests often came through the order management system at unusual hours, posing fulfilment challenges for the operations team whom operated on single shift – the modus operandi then was the deployment of an employee to monitor the system to capture such urgent requests and inform the respective personnel to deliver the goods to the designation locations provided by the customer.

However, this should not be a long-term solution, or so Hari Babu thought, because the constant worries of the orders being dropped, and the stakes of upsetting customers of such occurrences are too high. Determined to improve this current workflow, Hari Babu designed the HurrYCHase Urgent Order Call Management System, an in-house smart order software solution embedded in the existing order management system to capture such orders promptly. The solution will notify the designated personnel through calls to fulfil the orders for their necessary action. Escalation of the request will be made to the next level of seniority should the primary level of contact has not been established.

The outcomes? No more heart throbbing moments for fear that orders are dropped; no more sleepless nights for our employees who stayed up to ensure no orders go unnoticed, and most importantly, our customer is impressed with the system and our service level is maintained at an all-time high.

In his tenure with YCH, Hari Babu is the brain behind the WX3 dashboard system for the spares part business where he first ignited the idea using Microsoft Access and eventually duplicated into WX3. He remains a leading team member in managing research and development projects for the YCH innovation center. To date, he has worked on 3 key projects, Follow-me trolley, Pick to light, and Smart locker.
