Young people can easily feel overwhelmed by the scale of global issues that we are inheriting, particularly given our under representation in global governance.

That is why I am excited to share the Y20 Communiqué: the outcome of policy discussions between youth delegates of the G20 at the Y20 Summit in Tokyo. The Y20 Communiqué was drafted by young people to advocate for young people, and will be considered by G20 leaders at the end of June when they meet at the G20 Leaders Summit. The Y20 Communiqué is one of the only officially recognised ways that young people can make policy recommendations directly to leaders.

Within its three pages we recommend a number of urgent actions to achieve a more equitable, inclusive, and sustainable world, including:

?? Using technology to encourage lifelong learning

?? Supporting workers’ protections and benefits in the digital and informal economy

?? Combatting the climate crisis and tackling global waste, particularly plastics

?? Supporting sustainable international trade, including by eradicating modern slavery.

The Communiqué consensus reflects the positivity and determination of youth, and proves that we can harmoniously and ambitiously seek global change.

How can you get involved? Please read, discuss and share the document; the more you do so the more it will be seen, heard and paid attention!
