Xpoint’s live launch is a landmark moment for operators in the North American market, because they “finally have a choice” of geolocation partners.

With the milestone announcement that Xpoint is now live in Canada with SkillOnNet at the top of the minds for our team, we sat down with CEO Marvin Sanderson to reflect on why this is such an important stage in the growth of the business.

How proud are you of the rapid emergence of Xpoint from the company’s unveiling to live launch?

Extremely proud. From an Xpoint perspective, having only announced our launch in October of last year at G2E, to see us accelerate and go live in a market within eight months is phenomenal. We’ve gone from a team of just four last August to 45 as it stands currently, in June, 2022.

Around 75% of those hires have been in tech, and we’ve done a fantastic job to produce this technology that provides reliable geolocation checks to the North American iGaming market.

In the technology world I think that’s exciting, it’s a step in the right direction for the business. It proves that we’ve successfully developed a technology that only a very small number of companies have been able to produce.

Does this feel like the start of something very exciting for Xpoint?

To be just the second incumbent into a monopolized market is not just an exciting time for Xpoint, it’s an exciting time for operators in the North American iGaming industry because they now, finally have a choice.

We have the chance to innovate and push the industry forwards by unlocking the true potential of geotechnology for our partners. This is super exciting. We want to work with operators who are keen to see innovation in the geolocation space, and the response to what we offer has been overwhelmingly positive.

Ontario is one of the newest iGaming markets in North America and it has huge growth potential. Was this key in launching in Canada first?

It’s been really good to launch in Ontario to begin with, as it’s probably going to be the biggest market in Canada, potentially, and that gives a really good foothold to grow in the Canadian market.?

What it has done in a short space of time already, is provide us with a good amount of data to analyse and then optimise our platform as we make further launches in New Jersey and other states across America.?

Now your Verify product is live in-market, do you think this will act as a catalyst to attracting more operators and potential partners to Xpoint??

Now we’re live and proven to work in a market like Ontario, it gives operators confidence when choosing Xpoint as their geolocation partner in a previously monopolized industry.??

You cannot beat testing technology in the live environment and our technology is working great. It’s been smooth for the most part, but you need to constantly be tweaking and optimising.?

We’re now here to stay, as it were. We have some exciting partnerships to announce in the coming weeks and months, and more news on additions to the team, and the overall growth of our business.

Has your own licencing approval process for the likes of the AGCO and DGE been among the toughest hurdles to overcome in getting Xpoint’s advanced geotech products live??

One thing a lot of people don’t realise is just how good these guys are, how much they look at and scrutinize your platform. Some people see it as a pretty straightforward box-ticking exercise, but the process is extremely thorough, and they look for everything possible. We knew that, going in, and we’ve had to ensure that our system stands up to all kinds of scenarios, which has been a really good testbed for us.?

To get the DGE (Division of Gaming Enforcement) seal of approval in the North American marketplace is the gold standard in many people’s opinion. We’ve been very happy to work with them and they’ve been absolutely great throughout this whole process. I couldn’t speak more highly of their team.?

Are you pleased with the way you’ve been able to lead Xpoint and realise your vision?

It’s been a team effort here and I’m lucky to be working with a team of very smart people. Leadership is easy if you surround yourself with good people. You can allow them to grow and develop what they believe in and that’s the reason you employ the best people.

It’s been a phenomenal effort on behalf of the entire group, so I’m really pleased for everyone. There’s been a whole lot of effort, but now everyone can see that it’s been worth it.

We take the highs and lows as a team, but we’ll certainly be enjoying the next three months or so as we go live with multiple partners throughout North America.?
