XOJET, Cessna Denali & Brexit (Sorry!)

XOJET

North America’s leading charter brokerage XOJET has reported mid-year increases of 22% and 12% in revenue and flight hours respectively for the first half of 2018.

Alongside the 34% contribution that Off-Fleet Charter business made to revenue gains, the company dominates the on-demand super-midsized charter market in the United States, with 31% of flights occurring on the XOJET fleet – a fleet containing one of the largest collections of Citation Xs in the country.

CEO Brad Stewart believes a falling demand for fractionally owned aircraft is driving growth for on-demand charter services. As such, XOJET has started a fleet expansion program and recently took delivery of two additional Citation X aircraft.

Cessna Denali Mockup Debuts

Textron Aviation’s incoming single-engine turboprop debuted as a full-size mockup this month at AirVenture 2018, Oshkosh, Wisconsin, featuring a flight deck with functioning Garmin G3000 avionics, updated interior, and composite McCauley five-blade propeller.

Across the show, on-site demos showed how the Denali’s cabin can be easily transformed from executive configurations to passenger and cargo layouts.

As three of the new GE Catalyst engines, which boast 20% lower fuel burn and 10% higher cruise power than competitors, head to Textron Aviation HQ in Wichita, Kansas later this year, preparation continues for first flight in early 2019 with a 2020 certification.

Brexit White Paper

GAMA has welcomed July’s release of the UK government’s Brexit white paper, although concerns remain about the fate of the UK proposal as negotiations continue with the EU.

It’s probable that you’ve been unable to avoid the bombardment of coverage on said white paper over the previous weeks. In the aviation section, the UK has said it will seek participation in the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), adding, “In addition to ensuring that manufacturers should only need to undergo one series of tests in either market, this would also support collective work on aviation safety, reducing regulatory barriers for businesses and ensuring continued high standards for safety across Europe.” The paper further called for close coordination of air traffic management to ensure interoperability.
