XJ 13 Unlucky for Some
XJ13 was one of the most beautiful car designs ever and the saddest part is that it has only been seen in original form and on a variety of copies ranging from mediocre to excellent. It has influenced all kinds of cars directly or indirectly, one of the latest being the Ecurie Ecosse from Howard Guy at Design Q. Recently, Tony Hunter even conjectured what a mid engined Jag would have looked like. But what if, rather than being 'influenced by', you just blag the thing directly, smooth it out a little, stick a lid on and…
Re-proportioning will always be controversial and I would say that Matthias Kulla’s design (labelled Audi) in the Dick Powell rendering presentation book went the best way to cracking it.
So Mattias, Tony and Howard, if you’re looking, here’s the psd version of the XJ13 hardtop; an automotive siding, a backwater, a curiosity, a 'what might have been'.

3 年I got to agree Dave the XJ13 is a piece of art on wheels, it sounds as good as it looks too! I was lucky enough to get to see it up very close and even sit in it when I worked on the XK180. Malcolm Sayers finest work! Yours, Tony's and Howie's rehashes all have great possibilities for low volume niche vehicle products
