xAPI Camp: INNOVATORS ASSEMBLE!

xAPI Camp: INNOVATORS ASSEMBLE!

Our next xAPI Camp will be at Amazon’s HQ in Seattle on July 21 for a full day of xAPI awesomeness.

This means that there are now four xAPI Camps scheduled. They are:

  • 21 July – Amazon (Seattle, WA)
  • 29 September – DevLearn (Las Vegas, NV)
  • 17 November – CSTD (Toronto, ON) – tentative date
  • 15 March 2016 – Learning Solutions (Orlando, FL)

I am very excited to put out a call for proposals. The above camps are just what’s scheduled as of today. There are more events related to the Experience API already in planning stages through 2016.

After our first xAPI Camp in March at University of Central Florida, we sought actionable feedback from our participants. One piece of feedback we're happy to act on is to define different types of sessions to encourage a wider diversity of ideas and activities for each event. As a result, we will have four types of sessions that will spur small and large group activities and discussions. We are encouraging everyone with a case study, a big challenge, a big idea or a lesson learned to propose a topic.

For our purposes, a Case Study is a real implementation of xAPI, either in development or already implemented.

Big Challenge describes a tough problem for your organization that requires a group of smart people to help generate solutions.

A Big Idea is a possible use of xAPI that could catch on with help.

Lesson Learned comes from a place of love, where you would spare others the time it took for you to learn it. It can be super geeky.

We're seeking both the people and the ideas that pull us into the future, taking steps both giant and small. We record our speakers and we're happy to have them back as every implementation is a story of change... and change happens over time.

Once you share your proposed topic, our planning committee will review the proposal and get back to you within three weeks of submission, likely with constructive feedback. We aim for everyone who attends or shares with us to be better for the experience.

We're excited to hear about what you're working on or thinking about. Are you ready to share?

I would live to attend one these camps, any chance one could be scheduled in the Northeast area? Preferably somewhere between Philadelphia and New York? Might be the only way I could travel to one.

Hey Aaron Silvers! CONGRATS on the next xAPI Camp! For those of us trying to wrap our brains around what xAPI (AKA Tin Cup or The Experience API) is all about, can you recommend a resource? Where can we go for a primer?
