X-WEB
Despite all the advanced security tools and services are being utilised by mature organisations, we are seeing a greater number of cyber attack victims in the modern days where Australia is now #3 in the world for Ransomware attack victims*. This is due to cyber adversaries have evolved rapidly and utilised all X-assets available to prepare and perform sophisticated and organised cyber attacks bypassing the traditional security systems.
In the past, traditional cyber Intelligence has served well however, it is often fragmented and has not evolved to the level of modern cyber adversaries. To protect our digital assets and enable a sustainable digital economy, it's time for the Cyber intelligence industry to evolve into a unified and next-level ahead of the cyber adversaries whilst making it more affordable and accessible for all organisations and individuals; X-WEB intelligence.
Working together we can enable a stronger and safer digital economy.

3 年Oh wow. That’s a shocking statistic for Australia. I would think we need more resources than ever to manage cybersecurity.

3 年Great article Tim ?? ??♀?looks like Australia is ranking high on a list but for all the wrong reasons… I’m sure many would agree that a collaborative ecosystem is needed more than ever…. As the old saying goes …. together we stand, divided we fall. If it wasn’t for covid I would love to help host a ‘hold my beer’ cyber community forum at several pubs across the country ?? to kick things off.. bring back IRC ?? some thoughts for this game of Wackamole ????????… we are each a node, decentralized mesh of nodes hovering across organisations … each organisation could be assigned an anonymous ID to encourage breach reporting to support a community notification system, that the industry can leverage pro-actively segment by segment. In particular I am concerned for the NFP & healthcare industries struggling to keep up, we could do more, we could do better, together. I’m sure there are better ideas out there as well.. It could work, just like how traffic in India just flows like water with almost no accidents. Also, stop paying ransoms, it encourages them. Focus on first principles … business continuity, backup and recovery plans tested! Ultimately, accept the things we cannot change, layer up to zero trust ?? level up!

3 年I agree with you on the fragmentation, made worse by a mix of old and new tools stitched together. I have yet to come across an enterprise security tool that does not make a user jump through a gazillion hoops and processes. Need to VPN, use a Digital Tokens, key in DIgital Pins, my EMM works on only one device and not for multi-device users, etc.. I am not against active security tools deployed, but it is cumbersome in today's WFH enivironment when used outside of the business intranet is the norm.
It is time for the industry to come together on this. This will require a combined effort. It won't be easy as there so many elements in any ICT chain be it in business or at a residential level. For the time being it will remain a cat and mouth game. It will be interesting to see what Biden's threats to Russia and China will do.
