In an official incident report released at 6:31 AM PT, Wyze attributed the disruptions in camera functionality and login difficulties to an issue with their AWS partner. The company assured its users that it was actively collaborating with AWS to address the underlying problem while implementing measures to mitigate the impact on their end.

Wyze's Chief Marketing Officer and co-founder, Dave Crosby, addressed concerned users on the company's official forum, acknowledging the ongoing efforts to restore device connectivity. Crosby also announced the temporary suspension of access to the "Events" tab within the Wyze app as a precautionary measure while the security matter is under investigation.

Reports from some users suggesting unauthorized access to video feeds under the Events tab prompted Wyze to initiate a thorough investigation into the potential security lapse. While the company has not provided specifics regarding the nature of the breach, it appears to be related to users inadvertently viewing thumbnails of other users' camera feeds.

Responding to the reports, Wyze assured users that while the thumbnails were visible, unauthorized users were unable to access live streams or view complete videos. However, the company remains committed to identifying all affected users and ensuring their security.

In an update issued on February 17, Wyze clarified that affected users had been logged out of the Wyze app as a precautionary measure to reset tokens and enhance security measures. The company also stated that it is actively notifying all impacted users and providing transparency regarding the incident.

Despite the challenges posed by the service outage and security concerns, Wyze has demonstrated a proactive approach in addressing the issues head-on. By promptly communicating with users, implementing security measures, and collaborating with its partners, Wyze aims to restore trust and confidence in its products and services.
