WWW: War, Window and Winner?

Are we happy with the current state of world affairs? How much risk the world face due to war escalations? What should be the priorities to bring happiness back?

War

Cost of war in Ukraine is evident for everyone. In conservative rough estimates?USD 100 billion military aid has been given to Ukraine over a year by USA and allies.?Similarly, one can guess Russia’s expenditures in this war with Ukraine. Short term destruction is visible due to these war expenditures and long term impact can be estimated by experts on the parties involved, concerned region and the world including on environment.?

My main concern here is the increasing nuclear risk due to escalations, provocations and instigation by trying to create certain situations or by releasing?some false or real reports. It is unlikely that use of nuclear weapons can be restricted to certain region. In previous articles, I tried to explain the risk of ‘first use policy’ of nuclear weapons. Some states including Russia have it with some situations mentioned in their policies. Although, Strategic weapons are for deterrence only but it is backed by a policy. In Russia’s case, its policy points towards the use of nuclear weapons in case of its existence threatened by any state/s or group /bloc. Anyway only Russia can tell under what circumstances its existence threatened. In my view,?Existence of the State threatened means all hopes lost. Therefore, that situation must be avoided. Will any UN body or International Criminal Court start trials against individuals?for war crime and crime against humanity who uses nuclear technology first to achieve their tactical or strategic goals or instigate any state to use it first? One thing is certain after these irreversible catastrophe, there will be no hegemonic powers in the world as no state will follow order of such states. ‘Policy of using nuclear weapons first’ is by design for power projection under which powerful states pursue their misguided approach to achieve certain objectives including expansion.

Joining any bloc or groups have certain drawbacks. Once any state joins any bloc due to some artificial or real insecurity , they constrain themselves to certain policies and actions of that bloc. In crude terms, a degree of compromise on its sovereignty after joining any bloc. Citizens can raise questions against decision makers/government if following orders of a bloc is harming their national interest for?example, putting citizens and state?in the line of fire, ignoring rising inflation, etc. If questions and demands are raised by citizens in a non-violent and respectful manner from their leaders, then leaders listen to them, rethink, revisit and reconsider their steps. Any kind of expansion by a group/bloc/individual state, do have impact on its social, economic, political and ecological landscape/biosphere.?

As evident in Russia-Ukraine war, national interest of parties involved is above the faith/religion practiced by majority of their citizens.?

Window

Power competition is now turning into power rivalry. We have seen devastating impact of war economy. We have also seen “decades of dividend” under peace economy. In this war economy, Russia appears to have managed non-human war reserves and resources, and its supply to the front/battle fields. Tactical retreat from an area or region might be a calculated thought out step for giving space of hope to the opponent or to achieve their objectives in other regions or both. “Ceasefire” is the most fearsome term if not in one’s favour. Involved parties must explore options of diplomacy and dialogue sooner than later, because they are playing in someone else’s story.

Winner

It is difficult to say who is the winner after so much destruction and burning of resources. Power comes with responsibility . If powerful states do not act responsibly, how any other states could support them by following order in the world and international laws. Hope is the solution for hopelessness. Happiness is the solution for sadness. Peace economy is the solution for war economy. Strategic Equilibrium is the solution for Strategic Balancing. You can only learn from the past. If you are living in the past , you are deviating from your today’s priorities, opportunities and challenges.?
