WWPIS June Newsletter

WWPIS June Newsletter

Dear Subscriber,

We hope this edition of the newsletter finds you well.?

Over the last month as well as running a number of virtual and live sessions we have been doing a lot of planning behind the scenes to ensure the WWPIS brand continues to grow and deliver the best programmes possible.

A number of new partnership announcements are in the offing and we are delighted that all of the clients that we have worked with over the last 12 months have renewed their contracts with us. Hopefully, this is a testament to the quality of our work and the impact that we have been having.

Annual memberships and customised website platforms are becoming more and more popular so we have been working hard to plan the best content for the platform. This has been achieved by looking at areas of need based on feedback received as well as engaging with experts who will be able to assist us in providing the best information for our membership.

We are delighted to announce that we will be continuing to work with British Gymnastics and Welsh Gymnastics over the next 12 months delivering sessions for parents and coaches involved in their performance pathway. We are also close to announcing a new partnership with another international gymnastics programme which hopefully we will be able to share with you next month.

The Parents in Sport podcast this month saw us joined by Sports Psychologist in Elite Sport Rebecca Levett. We discussed supporting a healthy identity in our sporting children.

You can find out more about some of these items in this month’s newsletter.

BURNLEY AND NOTTINGHAM FOREST VISITS

As part of the ‘Premier League Lifeskills Programme’ we recently visited Burnley and Nottingham Forest.

Feedback was incredibly positive from both staff and parents and we look forward to visiting these clubs again next season to continue the positive work that we have started.

Being part of this programme will allow us to extend our work across the footballing landscape. Over the last three seasons we have visited over 60 clubs across the Premier League and Football League to deliver sessions.

BMC AND GB CLIMBING PARTNERSHIP

Working with Parents in Sport are delighted to announce a new partnership with the British Mountaineering Council.

The first stage of the partnership will see a customised WWPIS and a BMC Platform being made available to all coaches and parents involved in the performance pathway to help support the journey of young climbers.

Throughout the next year there will be a series of workshops and webinars delivered across the whole climbing community as well as the development of further support as both parties work together to maximise the benefits of the partnership.

LEINSTER RUGBY AND CORK GAA

We always enjoy our work in the Republic of Ireland and this last month saw us run a virtual session with Cork GAA academy parents and a live session with the Leinster Girls U18 rugby parents.

It was our first session with Cork GAA which was superbly attended by parents and the feedback from this has been extremely positive.

This season has seen us starting to work in the Leinster Rugby Performance Pathway following the success of our programmes in a number of English Premiership rugby clubs.

Support is not just limited to the performance pathway. Over the last few seasons we have been working extensively with Leinster Rugby supporting their work with parents and coaches at both club and community level.

ANNUAL MEMBERSHIPS

It is great to have onboard a large number of annual members here at WWPIS and we have been tasked with creating badges for organisations to put on their own websites/platforms to show our working partnership together.

This model has proved hugely successful across the world in 2023 for National Governing Bodies, Sporting Organisations, Clubs and Schools.

The benefits of an Annual Membership include ongoing consultancy and an opportunity to really embed continued support within existing programmes as opposed to one hit wonders which we know don't always have the greatest impact.

Annual Membership also includes discounted rates for access to the WWPIS platform and all of our resources which can also act as a revenue stream for organisations.

The most important benefit of an Annual Membership is that it will give you priority on securing dates for live workshops and webinars. WWPIS has become a world leading brand in this space and securing dates and times to suit is becoming more of a challenge and we never want to let people down.

If you would like to discuss options that may be available to you or would like to set up an annual membership then please email me personally at [email protected].

PARENTS IN SPORT PODCAST - REBECCA LEVETT

In this episode Sport and Performance Psychologist in Elite Sport Rebecca Levett joins Gordon MacLelland to discuss supporting a healthy identity in our sporting children.

We all want our children to have the opportunity to explore various identities and learn that their sense of worth can come from different areas and that many skills and strengths are valued, not just those associated with ‘achieving success’.

During the conversation they discuss amongst other things:

  • How our children’s identity may influence their behaviour
  • Not closing things down too early and allowing our children to experience lots of different things in their life
  • Being conscious of what we praise and value as parents
  • Helping our children have a 100% focus on their sport at the right time, but not the whole time
  • Supporting the development of skills in our children that can then transfer into multiple domains
  • The importance of parental role modelling particularly our interactions as parents around learning and disappointment
  • Making sure our children know we ‘love them’ regardless of what they achieve
  • Does having an “on pitch” identity or persona mean being a different person?

UPDATED WORKSHOP AND WEBINAR MENU

As the number of workshops and webinars we have delivered to our clients continues to rise we thought it best to make it clearer the different types of sessions that we have been running.

The options above show what is currently available for both live and virtual delivery.?
