WTF Wednesday - August Edition

Welcome back to our WTF Wednesday blog! It's the August Edition, coming in hot:

I recently won a client in the most surprising way, and figured you may want to know what that story is. Am I right? Well, it should come as no shock that I was honest with this potential client on a discovery call when they asked me, “well, how would you feel if we hired one of your Recruiters full-time” and I responded with “If that’s what my Recruiter wanted to do I’d fully support that.” The natural follow-up question was, what would I charge them to ‘steal’ my people from me? And this, my friends, was how I won over the client before I even sent a contract. I responded with, “nothing, there would be no fee. I don’t operate like that. In my mind if my recruiter loves a client they’re working with, and that client loves them and wants to make it permanent who am I to stand in the way?” Truly, my angle here is hoping that two very happy people (the client and the Recruiter) would always keep my company in mind in the future and refer work to us, because we demonstrate putting our people/clients first.

So far, that’s been true. I’ve had this happen to me twice in three years, where a Recruiter left me for the Client. And both times, they’ve referred multiple other clients and opportunities my way because I wasn’t a self-serving shitty human, and I did the right thing. And that, my #GovCon people, is how we effing do this work with soul.

Love you all – can’t wait to see you at #GovJam sept 12!

I firmly believe “doing it right and doing people right” pays off in the long run. And if it doesn’t is still feels better than the alternative! Great post!
