The Wrong way of Digitization?

If you are the owner of a Product Based company, you must have realized that if you exclude Quality and Infrastructure, there are not many factors you look to optimize when you want to improve the companies performance.

When a general product based company plans to introduce more technology in them, they start by making an IT team whose aim as quoted is to “Buy Build and Run”

Now, this has two problems:

First, Most companies don’t take these transformational Steps, due to inertia they are reluctant to move.

Secondly. Even if they come in this zone of changing things, many of these turn out to make a mess of DataBase or get involved in Data handling and IT infrastructure handling.

In his book “The Inflection Point”, Scott Stawski who has been in a consultant industry for a decade explains this problem,

“A company to be successful should have a Complete Focus on its core competency and should be open to transformational Changes”.

As the advent of cloud technologies has removed the problem of storing data, and with the services of HP or Salesforce, a company now has a helping hand for CRM and IT management, So companies s can focus on their core competency.

Automobile company for example now, has their customers handled by Salesforce, has its IT infrastructure handled by HP, has Bain as a business consultant, all of which are utilizing and Processing the Automobile company data which is their core competency and the automobile company working their minds on development of their machinery which is their core competency.
