The Writing’s On the Wall

The wall light is one of the unsung heroes of interior design, a versatile addition to a lighting plan that pops up often in the projects we receive from our pro-designer friends. They’re not alone either – we’re massive fans of wall lighting and its ability to bring extra dimensions and drama to a space.

A good designer will look to craft a zonal lighting plan, using lots of lamps that fill in each other’s blanks. It gives occupants a scope for adapting their lighting to life and how they live it. There are times when you need total coverage but if you think about it, you’re more likely to dim things down and create areas of focus. And this is when the wall lamp comes into its own.

We’ve got a few options where wall lamps are concerned, like the unique Hooked, which casts its light downwards and is perfect for spaces with high ceilings. You can also add a shade to Hooked, which alters its light pattern, making it even more atmospheric – reading areas, lighting artwork, or position it above shelving to highlight your trinkets.

Caged ?is another Buster + Punch wall light classic. A moreish mix of stone and solid metal, with a tactile granular sandblasted metal frame and the perfectly positioned bare Buster Bulb in its centre. Plenty of sizes to choose from as well, which can make things tricky.

We’ve seen Caged deployed in strict lines by interior designers, using the medium version. Or as big statement lighting installations, using the double-whammy Caged XL that has two Buster + Punch LED bulbs facing off against each other. The Small Caged can live in nooks and crannies and we see them lots in kitchen spaces, working well in combination with stronger task lighting.
