Writing a Winning Marketing Story
As a professional in the industry, who has written tons of marketing stories, presentations, articles, PRs, this is the ground that I recommend every content marketer to stand on as a basic foundation.
Well, I know what a challenge it can be, when you are trying to compile a winning marketing story and sharpen it. You sit with either a pen and paper, or open the word to type those magical words that will describe "why customers should choose you". Then you get lost, and I have been lost in this abyss more times than I can even count. So here are a small things that you can do to write that winning marketing story for your personal branding or for the company branding.
Think About Your Goals
First and foremost, begin with a goal in your mind. Why are you writing this story? Do you want to entice your investors with it? Do you want to show the world the quality you bring to the industry? Does your story tend to your customer and you want it to convert potential ones into real ones? Yes the goal matters.
Outline Your Story and Get Your Power Words
After figuring out the goal, make an outline of all the things you want to convey. Let's say if it's for investors, you want to focus on YOY Growth, expansion, consistency, progress and potential. Those are the things you'll build your story on. If it's for your customers, you want to outline, cost-effectiveness, time-effectiveness, product/service quality, value addition and your vision. Then it becomes a whole different story.
Build Carefully on the Outline
After outlining and selecting a few power words that you absolutely want your story to have, build on every point, every word and give a sharp, goal oriented, marketing story, that makes you stand out and describes your authenticity. Always remember, the target you have and the authenticity with which you write your piece, are the two things that are going to win your audience and give you return over your marketing targets.
Remember it is not about what you write, it is about what you present and how you present it. Keep it simple. crisp and clear
So do it and let me know how well it goes for you! :)
