I have one hour to go before my children break up for the summer holidays, so I am manically finishing off some jobs before the chaos begins!
Whilst my children will certainly be having a good rest over the summer, I would like to use the holidays to catch up on some reading and hopefully a little bit of writing. Here are some tips for keeping your children busy during the summer break:
1) Head to the local book shop, second hand book shop or library and let your child choose some new and exciting books! Here is our list of Recommended Reading, which I have just updated with a few new ones. We also have an 11+ Reading List, which might be helpful.
2) Read our blogposts, 10 Summer Holiday Creative Writing Ideas for KS2 and Encouraging Creative Writing over the Summer. Remember that the summer holidays are the perfect time to indulge in some creative thinking, before embarking on writing.
3) If you are interested in your child participating in a short creative writing course, we have a few spaces left on our Desert Island Discovery Course! It's for Years 2-3 children and provides a wonderful opportunity for children to write their own adventure story, with guidance along the way. It will be running online from August 19th-23rd.
4) Our Amazing Amazon Adventure Course for Years 4-6 children is sold out already, but we have now launched a Desert Island Discovery On Demand Video Course and an Amazing Amazon Adventure On Demand Video Course, which you can access at a time which suits you.
I hope this information has given you some fun ideas for things you can do during the summer holidays to keep up the reading and writing.
After-School Clubs for Schools
If you are a school, don't forget that we have a range of after-school creative writing clubs, which are ready and waiting for you to try! Another school purchased our Igniting Writing After-School Creative Writing Club this week, and they will be running the course to their Key Stage 2 children during the autumn term.

I will be pausing the newsletters from now until September. In the meantime, I hope everyone has a wonderful summer holiday and let's hope the sun shines!
Best wishes,
Dani
