En route to Oxford, UK - PEN International - ?Looking forward to meeting delegates from all over the world! And ITD webinar!
Monday my life takes me to Oxford, England, to take part in the PEN International Congress. Monday is travel day, Tuesday is pre-congress meeting day in the Translation and Linguistic Rights Committee (TLRC). Tuesday evening opening session. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday is meetings, general assembly and networking.?
Friday also includes, for me, the International Translation Day webinar of the International Federation of Translators – FIT. Saturday is going home day.?

Meeting in Sapmi and statement: The principles of the statement can be extended to other languages also.
Sami also in Russia. The Sami languages are cross border. Samis were these people were there before the present existing states. PEN Chiapas Pluricultural is also a very wide region. Like Quechua in South America.Other TLRC Projects: CEATL, Strasbourg Meeting, Hawthornden Project.

Greetings from Kurdish PEN. Status update on the Kurdish language in the education system. Invitation to PEN to start a campaign to have Kurdish recognized as an official language.
Information about Kurdish in the court room. Train Kurdish court interpreters in Kurdish and Turkish court interpreting.
Do share activities, also to share cases of linguistic repression. Share the good things, also share the bad things. use your mother tongues, also on social media.
PEN Quechua promote literature neo-/pos-indigenista. Alliance with PEN Chiapas. First poetry contest in indigenous sprog. Finland: Sharing between centres, interlanguage translation. The invisible child.
Guatemala: Promoting literature written in indigenous languages. Many write in Spanish. Auto-convocar. "Bring your own dish to the party, bring your own language to the table." PEN Chiapas high degree of biodiversity and linguistic diversity, cultural diversity.
Haiti: French, Spanish, English, French is official, people speak creole, only 50 procent speak French correctly, schools dominated by French dominated French. Creole being promoted. French still dominating.
PEN Myanmar. translation center, cross-language projects. Translation important for understanding. Workshops and new technology.

Public events and initiatives during ‘Writers in a World at War’: PEN International’s 90th Congress in Oxford, UK
?Oxford, UK – PEN International’s 90th Congress, themed ‘Writers in a World at War,’ will be held in Oxford from 24th to 27th September. Delegates from over 90 countries will gather against the backdrop of current global crises to discuss key questions, including the importance of the PEN Charter, explore literature's role ‘across frontiers’, and the future of PEN’s principles and solidarity mission.

?Opening Ceremony: Palestinian writer Adania Shibli will deliver the keynote address. Welcoming remarks by Burhan Sonmez (President of PEN International), Margaret Busby (President of English PEN), and Anthony Brewerton (Bodleian Libraries). The event, hosted by PEN International in partnership with English PEN, will be live-streamed on the PEN International’s YouTube channel.?

Tilbage i 2021 m?tte PEN Internationals 100-?rs jubil?um i Oxford aflyses. Det skulle have v?ret en flot 100-?rs kongresfejring, men blev i stedet en online-kongres p? grund af Covid-19.? ? ?ret efter, i september 2022, var Svensk PEN v?rt for kongressen og kunne samtidig fejre deres 100-?rs jubil?um, og sidste ?r var den internationale kongres endnu engang rykket ud p? internettet. ? I denne uge m?des vi s? omsider i Oxford. Det sker p? et bagt?ppe af krige, konflikter og nervepirrende afstemninger verden over. Kloden er ikke blevet et mere fredeligt sted p? de 104 ?r der er g?et siden PEN International blev stiftet i i London i 1921. Der er meget at tale om og endnu mere der skal g?res. ?
