How can writers that don’t have an agent submit a script to film & streaming companies?

Although there are still rules and guidelines to follow for submitting a script. Today's process is less restrictive and gives Independents a pathway to submit their scripts.

Getting Started: Agents are no longer the only person that can submit scripts to studios, streaming, and broadcast companies.

  • Submitting a script on your own. If you or a team member have credits from a major studio, streaming, or broadcast company as a producer or writer along with knowledge of what industry executives require for developing scripts for review. You can apply for permission to submit scripts.

If unable to submit your script on your own, there are other options available.

  • Executive producers, attorneys, and producers that work with the industry, in many cases are offering their services to assist writers and independents.
  • To get started, you just need to decide who, you want to assist you.
  • Keep in mind, there are some that will only develop your package but not submit your script. Make sure to ask if they do both.
  • Do your research. Using IMDB.com is a good source to confirm an executive's credits. Make sure their credits are from major film, cable, streaming, and/or broadcast companies.

Another option is to Adapt Your Script To A Book.
