Write Stuff Down

Your brain is an incredibly clever thing, but it's not designed to store every single one of the thoughts that you have every day.
Go back far enough in our history and we know that our brain set us up nicely to exist as well as possible with a small set of things:
Avoid danger
Eat, sleep and procreate
It's great for learning things, so that, for example, when we discover a new danger we can instantly know to avoid it.
But fast forward to now and we're trying to juggle seven hundred million things in both our work and personal lives.
We're bombarded at every turn with marketing messages that have our brain asking itself "do I need that?" or "if I had that would I be safer/ happier etc?". All stored away nicely inside a growing mass of information.
With all this noise, is it any wonder we forget things?
This becomes even more apparent when you're feeling stress. I find that if I don't write stuff down I eventually reach a point where I'm trying to remember so much that my body rebels and I feel tense all over, anxiety levels rise and I get into a stress state.
This does not feel nice!
In order to get myself down from this I brainstorm as much as I can onto paper or Trello or wherever it fits best.
I can almost feel my brain giving a huge sigh of relief.
Carry a pen and paper in your bag, pop ideas in your phone, ipad etc... don't try to cram your brain full.
When we clear the decks we allow ourselves the space to be able to think and be creative. That's a much more enjoyable state to live in.
Are you feeling the stress build up?
Try getting everything out of your head first, before you review what's relevant, important etc, and see how you feel.
