Write Less. Say More.

Write Less. Say More.

Trying to write more effectively, I found a good TED talk: How to Write Less but Say More from Jim VandeHei of Axios

He shares insights on how to get people to pay attention to what you write/say.

People on average pay less than 30 seconds to read an article, even after they chose to read it.

Get your article down to a few hundred words max. Be as clear as possible.

5 tips:

  1. Stop being selfish; think about what the reader cares about and wants to know.
  2. Focus on the one thing you want the audience to take away
  3. Keep it simple. Use strong words.
  4. Write like a human. Don’t show off or be overly formal.
  5. Then just stop.
