Wrapping up a unique year
Back in April I started posting these regular monthly LinkedIn blogs. There’s no coincidence in the timing, with the first lockdown and more time spent working from home.
I’ve found writing them enormously helpful, as a way of staying connected with you all during this strange year - and I hope that they’ve served as use to you too.
Looking back, although there have been bigger challenges than any I can remember, 2020 has also been full of opportunities to learn and develop. I’m incredibly proud of all my colleagues at Abloy for what we’ve achieved in the past 12 months.
We’ve tackled the challenges of fire doors, touch free access, securing unoccupied buildings and helping organisations to manage the movement of people with constantly changing access control requirements, including the frequent need for effective building lockdowns.
So much of what we also tried to do was to keep everyone together, playing our small part to keep the sector connected with best practice. We developed and rolled out CPD accredited courses on Electrically Controlled Fire and Escape Doors, and Digital Transformation in Security among other Abloy Academy courses still available.
Similarly, as we couldn’t get together in person, we launched our first ever Virtual Exhibition with something for everyone from end user to specifier or installer, to reseller. If you are serious about future-proofing your security and want to see the latest technology available, you can still take a look at the stand here: https://t.co/kdGYd4rwjr?amp=1
My personal highlight was Fire Door Safety Week in September. You’ll all know it’s a cause and campaign close to my heart, and this year at Abloy we released an extensive guide to help check fire door compliance. Reading it could save a life, so if you haven’t got yours yet please take a look! https://www.abloy.co.uk/Abloy/AbloyCOUK/FDSW/Abloy%20Fire%20Safety%20Week%202020.pdf
Above all, this year has made me appreciate Abloy’s ethos: we are not just a supplier of locks and security devices, we are trusted partners. Whatever challenges arise, we will continue to work together with organisations to understand their needs and provide the solution best suited to them.
There’ll be some new CPD dates from the academy in the new year so look out for updates. Until then, I’m wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and stay safe until we see each other again.
Thanks,
Pat.

4 年I've enjoyed them. I can't believe that I've become interested in locks as a result of my job at NBT.
