Wrapping up my 8 months Internship at Wex

As I approach my graduation from the Masters of Science in Information Systems and Business Analytics program in 3 weeks, I am deeply grateful to WEX for providing me with this invaluable opportunity to apply my knowledge and skills in a real-world setting.

WEX Inc. is headquartered in Portland, Maine, but its impact extends worldwide. With a strong focus on innovation, WEX simplifies virtual payment systems, making transactions seamless for businesses across various industries.

In this article, I’ll share how I proactively tackled data challenges, collaborated with cross-functional teams, and contributed to WEX’s mission.??

One of the most rewarding aspects of my internship was the opportunity to participate in the company's mentorship program. My mentor, Ryan Kendrick provided invaluable guidance and insights that helped me grow both professionally and personally. Our regular one-on-one meetings allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of the strategic decision-making process and to develop essential skills in areas like critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication.?

Beyond the mentorship program, I was consistently impressed by the welcoming and supportive culture at Wex. The entire team, from my direct colleagues to the recruiting staff, were always eager to lend a helping hand and provide career advice. The job shadowing opportunities I was offered allowed me to gain a well-rounded understanding of the company's operations and further develop my skills. Thank you Steven Koshiol , not only you helped me transition as an Intern when I joined, but you also provided guidance whenever I approached. I would also like to extend my gratitude to Mallory Rasins, A-CSPO for Product Manager job shadowing opportunities. Lastly for here, I always loved your crumbs of advice during our 1:1s Tricia Tetreau , I am definitely gonna miss them. Your expertise in Program Management have helped me to see things from different angles.

During my internship at Wex, I had the privilege of diving into various facets of strategy and operations, gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. From analyzing market trends to optimizing internal processes, every day presented new challenges and opportunities for growth.

At WEX, I donned my data detective hat. Thanks Tim Walsh for the missions (Which I Chose to Accept). My mission? To proactively identify and resolve data issues, ensuring that our reporting remained accurate and reliable. Whether it was a missing field or a cryptic anomaly, I dove into the depths of our data ecosystem.?

Drawing on my expertise in data analysis, I offered recommendations for enhancing data processing efficiency and improving system reliability. This included maintaining comprehensive documentation of operations processes and protocols to facilitate knowledge transfer and training for new Project management portfolio rollout.

Strategic Intelligence fueled my curiosity. I explored process innovations, aligning them with evolving business needs.? I learned to adapt to changing technologies, regulations, and market dynamics. Being agile is essential for success in this industry.

In addition to my data-focused responsibilities, I enjoyed working with Viviane L. and Alexsandro Silva . Thank you for job shadowing and task opportunities. I leverage my experience in evaluating existing business processes, identifying inefficiencies, and developing and implementing process improvements to help Wex stay agile and responsive to the dynamic fintech landscape. My efforts were recognized with 4 "Inspire & Celebrate" awards, highlighting my commitment to excellence and my ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.

Additionally, due to the sensitive nature of the work and the need to protect confidential information. I cannot disclose the particulars and details of my others day-to-day responsibilities, I can say that I gained valuable experience in strategic planning, analysis, and problem-solving. As I embark on the next chapter of my career, I carry with me the lessons learned and memories cherished from my time at Wex.?
