2?? A few weeks ago, Sonia Pawson, the Director of Government Skills at the Cabinet Office and a chartered occupational psychologist shared that she is “cautiously optimistic about Generative AI”.
?Sonia is responsible for conducting the symphony orchestra that is selection, assessment, and talent development. She brought together a super-team of analysts, data scientists, and psychologists to experiment with AI right across the talent lifecycle. Her brief? Ensure usage helps her teams go faster while making sure their processes remain fair and bias-free.
In her interview on the TA Disruptors podcast, she offered up?details on how her team are rethinking selection and moving towards interactive, task-based assessments to help them embrace candidate use of GenAI while still ensuring they can capture an accurate picture of a person's true potential.
This episode posed a question that's more loaded than a Matrix plot twist: Can TA leaders really afford to wait to embrace GenAI? Tune in to hear Sonia's thoughtful, carefully considered answer.?
3?? In an episode of the Diary of a CEO podcast, Steven Bartlett spoke to the multi-talented Sam Harris –– philosopher, neuroscientist, podcast host, and author ???

4?? Throughout the year, discussions about candidate use of AI have been rampant. Some TA teams are already feeling the impact, while others are still asking if candidates are really going to use GenAI to improve their chances. If you're on the fence, you'll want to see...?
?? This HRGrapevine article shows a viral TikTok video featuring a candidate employing Generative AI during a job interview ??
?? The summary of our survey of 2,000 students and recent graduates, revealed that 87% of candidates would have no qualms at all about using ChatGPT in the selection process. And if that wasn't enough, we found candidates actually believe it's their right to do so ?? A third would not want to work for an employer who told them they couldn’t use Generative AI, another third would question if they wanted to work for them, and 38% would believe the employer wasn’t very progressive.?
5?? While candidates believe they should be allowed to use GenAI in the selection process, for TA teams, it's a divisive issue. Especially for those TA teams already noticing a mismatch between impressive AI-enhanced applications and less-than-stellar performances at assessment centres –– forcing a complete resift in some cases.
If you're not sure where you sit on the debate about whether candidates should or shouldn't be allowed to take advantage of GenAI in the selection process, make the time to watch the latest HR Grapevine debate:‘ChatGPT is masking the candidate's true potential... or is it?’.?
