Wrapping Myself In Love: A Holiday Letter To ME

Dear Me,
As winter breeze whispers through the city lights and festive decorations fill our streets, I am pausing among the bustling crowds to write this special letter – to myself. While everyone's rushing between shopping malls and holiday gatherings, I'm creating this quiet moment to celebrate someone I often forget: me.
Finding Peace in City Lights - Between the dazzling Christmas displays at Harbour City and the endless WhatsApp party invites, I promise to find my quiet corners. Maybe it is a peaceful morning at Victoria Peak, or a quiet moment with a hot milk tea at my favorite cha chaan teng. Some invitations can wait, some gatherings can be missed – and that is perfectly okay.
Keeping My Festive Energy - I give myself permission to experience the season my way. Whether that means curling up with a book while others shop, or saying no to overwhelming commitments, I'll guard my energy like a precious Christmas light – burning steady and bright, not burning out.
Treasuring This Year's Story - As the year draws to a close, I celebrate not just the big victories but all the small moments of courage. Every challenge faced, every fear overcome, every small step forward – they're all ornaments on my tree of growth. I'll keep them close, these precious memories, to light my way forward.
Finding Joy in Small Moments - In these busy days, I find happiness in simple pleasures: the aroma of egg waffles from a street vendor, the comfort of my favorite sweater (finally useful in our brief winter!), the joy of holiday songs playing everywhere, I am grateful for these moments that make the holiday season special.
Choosing Self-Kindness - When the cold seeps in, I choose to wrap myself in self-compassion rather than criticism. Like putting on a warm winter coat, I'll protect myself from harsh internal weather. My worth isn't measured by presents bought, parties attended, or goals achieved – it's constant, like the rhythm of our city.

Embracing Today's Magic - I won't wait to visit that new café, wear that special outfit, or create that perfect moment. Now is the time to enjoy life, not someday. The present truly is a present, wrapped in ordinary moments and tied with the ribbon of now.
Creating My Holiday Spirit -I allow myself to feel the wonder of the season without judgment. Whether it's childlike excitement or quiet contemplation, every feeling is valid. Joy doesn't have to be loud to be real – it can be as soft as candlelight, as gentle as falling snow.
As this year winds down and the holiday season embraces us, I remind myself that I am enough – exactly as I am. Not when the New Year's goals are achieved, not when the perfect gifts are found, but right now, in this magical moment of winter charm.
With love and acceptance,
Wendy

2 个月I absolutely love this article! The past two years have been incredibly challenging, and your words really resonate with me. I've also come to realize how important it is to focus on personal growth, to forgive ourselves for what we haven’t yet achieved, and to embrace hardship and failure as part of the journey to success. Thank you for sharing this—it’s such a powerful reminder to be kinder to ourselves. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a fresh, hopeful start to 2025! ??
