A wrap of India's Aviation, Aerospace & MRO industry

A wrap of India's Aviation, Aerospace & MRO industry

  1. India is one of the world's fastest-growing #aviationmarkets and domestic #passengertraffic is expected to double to 300 million by 2030, according to government data. Traffic on overseas flights could more than double by then, as per CAPA India figures.

#MoCA aims to double the number of airports by 2030 in a bid to build global #aviationhubs to rival Singapore, Dubai and Doha. Looking at the above developments, India's aviation sector will need about $170 billion through 2030 to finance record aircraft orders and boost airport capacity amid an ongoing traffic boom as per S&P Global Ratings.

The report claims that "Indian carriers will spend $150 billion to finance outstanding orders of 1,700 aircraft, while $24 billion will be needed to build new #airports and expand existing ones." Thus, this time is right to support higher borrowing. Rising passenger #airtraffic, relatively cheaper domestic #financingrates, and conducive #governmentpolicies on foreign ownership will boost #fundingprospects for the sector giving more power to India's GIFT City,

We MRO Association of India appeal to Indian #airlines, #airports and other #aviationstakeholders to source their fundings via #GiftCity and make India a #leasinghub of Asia.

2. The Government of India Official's flagship #UDAN-RCS scheme has brought about #revolutionarychanges in India’s #aviationsector by adding smaller cities and making #airtravel affordable. Just as #UDAN completes its eighth anniversary, MRO Association of India would like to #congratulate the #MoCA on the success of #UDAN. As #UDAN continues to strengthen the India's #aviationsector, Ude Desh Ka Aam Naagrik” scheme has played a crucial role in boosting #airconnectivity and uplifting #regionalgrowth and #trade.

So far, under the scheme around 2.8 lakh #flights have been operated and about 1.5 crore #passengers have gained from the scheme and have experienced affordable #airtickets. Eyeing the above data, #MoCA has planned to extend the #UDAN scheme for another ten years.

May #UDAN continue to soar new heights in years to come!

3. the Government of India Official has embarked on a historic path to boost #healthcareaccessibility - India's first #helicopter ambulance service at Rishikesh #AIIMS. This game-changing service will redefine #trauma response by enabling rapid #transportation of #criticalpatients to hospitals within the crucial 'golden hour' window.

This fully funded service is a symbol of the government's care for its people. It is a service that will break the notion that #helicopters are a luxury afforded by few. Rather, these are bridges that will connect people in the remotest parts of the country to life-saving #healthcarefacilities. With this service, the loss of lives in #naturaldisasters and hillside #roadaccidents in hilly, remote regions could be minimised by simply #airlifting people within the golden hour.

Project Sanjeevani will pave the way for other states to implement this service for #emergencyevacuations and strengthening rural healthcare through medical outreach missions. With this service the government proposes to mobilise 108 #ambulances, transporting patients from across the state to AIIMS, free of charge. #Drone technology will also facilitate blood sample collection and medicine delivery to remote areas.

MRO Association of India lauds this #gamechanging initiative in Medicare and appreciates how the #versatility of #helicopters is being leveraged in the right direction. This development will give new wings to the #civilaviation ministry and other industry bodies like the The Rotary Wing Society of India India. We wish the Airbus Helicopters and the Government of Uttarakhand 'All the Best'

4. In a major boost to Civil-Defence convergence in Indian #MROindustry the ?the?Indian Air Force)?planning to #outsource?some of its #maintenance and #overhaul facilities to private #MROplayers in India. Going ahead, the #IAF plans to induct #civilMROs to impart the know-how on managing back #shops and offering aircraft body #paintshop infrastructure at one of its Base Repair Depots (BRD) to reduce dependence on foreign equipment manufacturers (#OEMs).

This is viewed by experts as an attempt by #IAF to handhold India's #MROindustry and to make the country #selfreliant and tap into the global MRO business which was worth $49.1 billion in 2023 and is projected to reach $66.2 billion by 2030.

The Indian #MROindustry was $1.7 billion in 2021 and the market is expected to grow to $4 billion by 2031, as per a?NITI Aayog Official?report of October 2022.

Approximately 80 instances of outsourcing certain #MROfacilities of the #IAF are at various stages of approvals since the process began in 2022. Last year, the IAF floated Request for Information (#RFI) to dual purpose its #heavy aircraft #maintenance facilities at #Hindon Air Base in Ghaziabad which can help #privateairlines to get their #aircrafts #repainted here rather than flying abroad for availing that #MROservices.

5. In a major boost to the #MakeinIndia initiative, the Tata Group is exploring the possibility of locally manufacturing the Pratt & Whitney PW127G turboprop engines that power the #C295M, as per recent media reports. This #engine has been flown on over 6,000 aircraft, accumulating over 160 million #flighthours, making it a highly reliable, #easytomaintain option with outstanding operational availability.

Currently, these #engines are imported directly. However, recent discussions point to the local production of certain engine #components and #assemblyengines from kits. This engine component #production will not only reduce the dependency on imports but also foster #jobcreation, leading to overall socio-economic development.

Meanwhile, if the Tata Group is successful in the above venture, India will witness another major milestone in the #engineMRO segment. Naturally, Pratt & Whitney, along with manufacturing the #enginecomponents, will set up an #engineMRO to meet the #maintenanceneeds of its engines. All-in-all, it is sure to provide a major boost to the Indian MRO industry.

6. The MRO Association of India #applauds Air India Limited on its digital transformation?move of selecting #AMOS software for streamlining its #MRO, #logistics, and #engineering needs. This cutting-edge #technology of AMOS will enable real-time data management of supplies and #spareparts inventory for #AirIndia’s fleet, enhance utilisation and resource allocation through efficient and effective paperless #workflow across the airlines’ growing global network. Thus giving?the #AirIndia Group a sustainability edge.

Also, we wish Air India continued success as it embarks on its new journey with Vistara - TATA SIA Airlines Ltd. merger!

7. Addressing the Global MRO Skills Gap: India Takes the Lead

The Global #MROsector faces a critical #challenge: a shortage of #skilledworkforce. Although organisations have taken it upon themselves to train #AME’s and #technicians, the problem persists. But India is tackling this issue head-on!

With the anticipated influx of Gen-X aircraft in coming months and the subsequent #MROdemand, Indian #MROs are proactively training the next generation to maintain the incoming fleet. We congratulate Aar Indamar Mro in their efforts to join hands with Vidarbha Engineering?Design and Innovation Centre (Vedic) for imparting training to #AME’s and #technicians who are keen on progressing their career in Aircraft Maintenance.

The 3-6 month course structure, aligned with international standards, will provide:

? Hands-on aircraft MRO experience

? Industry-relevant skills training

Thus, empowering the ambitious AMEs and technicians to meet the latest industry demands.
