Wow, you got a promotion at work, but are you happy at work?

TheEconomicTimes conduted a survey that showed that the Indian workforce works the hardest! But we wonder are they happy at work? Does their work make them happy? Is it fulfilling?

When work makes you unhappy, it's a major life problem. Sometimes little changes can take away our office frustration. It is imperative for your mental wellbeing to take minute and check in once in a while. It is not always that you don’t like the job you do but at times you’ve been hustling for so long that you get tired, everything seems monotonous and you tend to lose interest in work, which then leads to frustration.

Staying happy at work is the most important thing you need in order to be satisfied in your life. Just like eating healthy and exercising, staying happy at work counts. In a Gullup 2013 research, it was found that unhappy employees outnumber the happy employees. If you are happy, you are more productive at work. You won't see Monday morning as a misery even when you are hell tired. All you have to do is love your work.

The happier you are, the more successful you will be in your life. Even if your working environment isn't how you want it to be, you can still change it to a happier place. At the end of the day, happiness is nothing but a choice. You choose to be happy in your life and that's how you get it.

You can try out these simple tricks to stay motivated-

Create an office nest

This is kind of the easiest thing to do! Decorate your workspace with positivity and things you love. It can be anything-- a picture of your dog, a Christmas tree, small chits, bits of papers, your family pictures, positive quotes or even a picture of your idol-anything which inspires you to be better every day. Create a space for yourself that motivates you to work and is anything but mundane.

Be open to feedback

Always ask for feedback, be it from a senior, a colleague or anyone else. Be open to them. Good or bad, be accessible and let people tell you how your work is going. Improve on yourself wherever needed. Feedbacks also help you feel acknowledged and this will help you see your progress, see where you stand in the crowd and what position you hold among your colleagues.

Be future oriented

Think about yourself, think how you want to change, think what all you want to achieve with your job. Most of the people work because they want monetary benefits, but you still have to decide how you have to proceed in your career with the field you have chosen. Grab all the opportunities that come your way, be in charge of your growth, ask your boss for any guidance and help that will help you grow professionally-- just don't stop!

Reward and reinforce yourself

Monetary benefits and bonuses are one thing, but there is a lot more that you can do for your own self. Celebrate every good moment and every positivity in your career, give rewards to yourself for all the positive feedback that you get. Be your own critic and your own best friend, reinforce yourself for every difficult task. Rewarding yourself is a need for a happy life. Rewards and reinforcements are motivators to keep your working.

Be open to challenge

This is the best thing that you can do for yourself. Do things that you have never done in your life. Be open to challenges, take all the risk that you can afford (obviously), but give yourself and your career chances. It will help you grow in ways you don't even have an idea about. Don't be passive and just keep doing what people told you to do. Instead, think about things that you can do yourself and make it productive.

Get organised and don't multitask.

So, this is kind of simple, a clean desk will make the work environment less stressful and hectic. You already have enough stress with work, no point increasing it with additional stressors. Keep your desk clean and organized always. Multitasking just increases the time and work. It wastes more time than saving it. Focus on one task first, and give your 100 per cent. It will make the work more fruitful.

Keep your personal problems at home.

Maintain a line between personal and professional problems, make sure that you don't mix them. Personal problems can be really emotionally exhausting, but make sure you don't let it harm your work, rather make work a place to stay away from that stress for some time.

Have courage to move away from what's draining you

Avoid negativity in your life. If something doesn't make you happy, leave it then and there. Have the courage to say 'NO', to say 'It's enough' and 'Stop'. When your ego, fear and hopes are tied up together, it's time to let go! There are people who try and let things be by saying 'It's just a month', a year or so, but that is not good for you and you shouldn't be doing that!

Take a breather, move around and reflect on your day at the end

We all get burdened by work easily so make sure that you take short breaks to relax on a hectic day. This will help you recharge and work better. Move around a little, take a walk, run around, climb up and down the stairs-- this will help you to change your mood. Lastly, reflect on the day. Ask yourself what you did the whole day, see what positive things you did and jot it down in a notebook or your phone. You will know why your work matters the most to you. You can refer to these statements whenever you feel you need a boost and encouragement in your professional life.

Happiness is created, it is made. It is a choice that you will have to make for yourself. Your success also depends on your happiness. So find your own way to be happy at work!

Let us know what you think and how do you motivate yourselves on those blue days!
