WOW! STMicroelectronics STM32 Family Five New Product Series Unveiled

Since the launch of STM32's first Cortex-M core MCU in 2007, STMicroelectronics(ST)?has continued to increase innovation in the MCU market, and its STM32?family?has continued to innovate.?As so far, the number of customers of the ST STM32 family has exceeded 60,000, and the cumulative shipment has exceeded 10 billion.

Now,?ST, which has never stopped innovating, has launched five new products series of the STM32 family, including the STM32H5 series, the STM32MP13 microprocessor, the STM32WBA, the STM32U5 series, and the STM32C0 series.

STM32H5 Series: Enhanced Performance and Information Security

The new STM32H5 series is based on the Arm? Cortex?-M33 32-bit core with an operating frequency of up to 250 MHz, embedded with 128 KB to 2MB of Flash memory and 640KB of RAM. The STM32H5 is available in a wide range of product variants in 12 packages (25 to 176 pins) and also supports an operating ambient temperature up to 125°C. The STM32H5 extends security from basic security services to fully certified building blocks, which are maintained by STMicroelectronics throughout the product's lifetime, providing most of the important security services required by IoT devices.

The STM32H5 series simplifies industrial application design that emphasize safety. Applicable application scenarios include: smart home, such as air conditioning systems, refrigerators, and alarm systems; factory automation, such as PLC, motor control, industrial pumps; communication gateways for smart cities, lighting control, energy conversion; and consumer applications such as keyboards, tracking devices, medical accessories, etc.

STM32MP13 Microprocessor: Industrial-grade MPU with Performance, Power?&?Cost Efficiency

The STM32MP13 is a single Arm? Cortex?-A7 core with a high clock frequency of up to 1 GHz. It features innovative energy-saving capabilities, dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, and full-featured security functions, including an encryption algorithm accelerator, side-channel protection, tamper resistance, and secure storage. Combined with Arm TrustZone technology and trusted firmware (TF-A and OP-TEE) for a secure processing environment, STM32MP13 microprocessors ensure high security for IoT devices.

The STM32MP13 microcontroller?is?designed for entry-level Linux, bare metal or RTOS systems, pre-integrated with Microsoft Azure RTOS. The STM32MP135 product line is available in 3 different packages to facilitate cost-effective PCB design.

STM32MP13 is a?general-purpose industrial-grade MPU product, suitable for many?applications, including?industrial automation, payment terminal and security applications, smart metering, smart home, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, etc.

STM32WBA: A High-Security, Low-Power Wireless?SoC Based on Bluetooth 5.3

The STM32WBA is a 32-bit wireless SoC based on the Arm? Cortex?-M33 core and is the first to obtain SESIP level 3 certification. It supports low-power Bluetooth 5.3 applications and provides basic functionality for wireless IoT devices, including high data rates for fast and reliable data transmission, long-distance capability, high output power (+10 dBm), and low-power communication to extend battery life.

The STM32WBA series features TrustZone? technology, which provides a high level of security while protecting data?& IP, and preventing hacker attacks or device cloning.

Next-generation Ultra-Low-Power Flagship Series: STM32U599/5A9 and STM32U535/545

The STM32U5 series is a low-power STM32 product series based on 40nm technology, featuring an efficient Arm? Cortex?-M33 core and ST's proprietary innovative energy-saving technology and on-chip IP modules?to enhance performance while reducing power consumption. This flagship product line not only meets the strict power and performance requirements of smart applications, but also incorporates cutting-edge technologies for emerging applications to further enhance device security. It is also equipped with a 2.5D graphics accelerator to enable rich graphics interfaces and improve user experience. With advanced security features based on hardware protection, it can meet the requirements of PSA and SESIP (IoT platform security evaluation standards) 3-level assurance level.

The new STM32U599 and STM32U5A9 microcontrollers provide enhanced?performance and advanced graphics capabilities. The STM32U599/U5A9 embed ST's advanced 2.5D graphics accelerator NeoChrom graphics processing unit (GPU), which can help developers easily implement and enhance GUI features such as simple and advanced drawing, 2D text copy, alpha blending, color format conversion, scaling/rotation, mapping 2D textures to 3D surfaces, and image format compression.

The STM32U535 and STM32U545 microcontrollers enrich the STM32 ultra-low-power STM32U5 series product portfolio. The STM32U535 series has a built-in 128 KB to 512 KB flash memory and pin packaging from 48 pins to 100 pins. The STM32U545 has a built-in 512 KB flash memory and additional support for hardware encryption acceleration engines (AES, PKA, and OTFDEC).

STM32C0 Series: Entry-Level 32-bit MCU for Price-Sensitive 8-bit Applications

The STM32C0 series?is an entry-level 32-bit MCU?designed for price-sensitive?typical 8-bit/16-bit applications, with simple peripherals, cost-effective, and very suitable for engineer development. Compared with similar products on the market, the STM32C0 has more powerful performance, reliable quality and stability, and a mature ecosystem of STM32, which is stable in supply and can accelerate product development and launch. STM32C0 has a small and compact form factor, excellent dynamic power consumption to achieve better efficiency, and a rich development tool and ecosystem to accelerate evaluation, prototyping, and design. As a replacement for 8-bit MCUs, the price of STM32C0 is comparable to that of STM8, while its performance is superior and development is as easy as that of 8-bit MCUs.
