Wow, Robot
Love him or hate him, but Elon Musk is one of the few people that can consistently deliver things that feel like "The Future-ure-ure..." Last night was Tesla's "We, Robot" event on the Warner Bros lot in LA and many figured there would be a lot of smoke and mirrors with a tiny peek at an autonomous Robotaxi, and they were wrong.
There were 20 "CyberCabs" on hand to drive people around, a very sleek 20-person "RoboVan" that delivered a glimpse of futuristic mass transit and then the crowd was stunned when a parade of humanoid "Optimus" robots came strutting out in what felt like a scene from a sci-fi movie. After doing a little Daft Punk dance, they then mingled with the crowd and served drinks - for real. Enjoy this recap and get comfy with the idea of having your own help-bot in 2030. Recap

Crypto.com has filed a lawsuit against the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) following a Wells Notice indicating the regulator’s intent to sue the exchange for operating as an unregistered broker-dealer. The lawsuit argues that the SEC is overstepping its jurisdiction and unlawfully categorizing nearly all crypto transactions as securities sales. This legal action is part of a broader trend, as various crypto companies like Kraken and Coinbase have faced similar SEC scrutiny.
Crypto.com ’s CEO, Kris Marszalek, is vocal about the need to halt the SEC’s regulatory overreach. As tensions rise, the lawsuit aims to protect the platform's secondary market sales of network tokens, reflecting a growing resistance from the crypto industry against regulatory challenges.
AMD has unveiled its new AI chip, the Instinct MI325X, set to begin production by late 2024, directly challenging Nvidia's dominance in the data center GPU market. As demand for generative AI accelerates, AMD is looking to capture a significant share of a market projected to be worth $500 billion by 2028. CEO Lisa Su highlighted that their new chip promises up to 40% more inference performance than Nvidia's offerings, particularly for applications like Meta's Llama AI model.
However, AMD faces hurdles due to Nvidia's established CUDA programming ecosystem, which locks in developers. Alongside the MI325X, AMD announced its new EPYC 5th Gen CPUs, enhancing its capabilities in the AI space and aiming to chip away at Intel's longstanding market share. Despite the ambitious rollout, AMD’s stock dipped 4% while Nvidia continued to soar.
