The Wounded Warrior Project

The Wounded Warrior Project

I recently spoke about goal setting at the beginning of the year. A very important goal that I set for myself is my charitable giving.?

I'm the president of the Wounded Warrior Committee here in Canton. This will be our 10th year, and in 10 years we've raised half a million dollars. Here's a little bit more about Wounded Warrior.?

When the Wounded Warriors started, it was called The Wounded Warrior Project, and they started after 9-11.? When a soldier came back critically injured, they were given a backpack with needed supplies at the time. In the backpack were phone cards, because back then you had to make a phone call, you didn’t have a cell phone.? Also included was comfortable clothing.? When these soldiers were going through their surgeries, they provided support emotionally and physically.? They now make sure that any veteran post 9-11 gets free surgeries, free medical, free emotional support, and the tools that they need to succeed.

The Wounded Warrior Committee’s slogan is, “There's no greater tragedy than being forgotten.”

To raise money, they have a golf outing in July, and are trying to think of some really spectacular things to do for their 10th anniversary.?

The Wounded Warrior gala is in March.? I would love your feedback, if you were to go to a gala or you were to go to a golf outing, what would be really spectacular in your mind??

It's not just about raising money, it's about me giving money. I pick my charities that I want to be involved in for the year, but there's always a few that I always give to.? I have kind of a goal of what I want to do as far as giving.

My store, Jacob Matthew Jewelers, has given back $300,000 in five years. You can always go to my website at www.jacobmatthewjewelers.com and you can see the running total that we have been giving too.?

What charity is important to you? I might want to help.
