WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR CAR TO TALK TO YOU?

I am speaking to group of Credit Union Innovators about the Future of Autonomous Transportation today (Wed June 26th) at the Innovation Loft in New York.
The future of Transportation is about mobility services, shifting car ownership, intelligent public transit, car communication with smart city infrastructure challenging many industries such as insurance. You have heard me share these use cases at IoT Slam 2018. Can you imagine the car AI makes the autonomous vehicle talk to you? Join me on a journey to find out.
Is a talking car a good thing?
Let me clarify. When I say talking car, it is not Alexa in your car. We have that today with Alexa integration in the car by BMW and Volkswagen already. That is basic voice to text and text to speech mixed with Natural Language processing today. Google has shown us this can become conversation AI with their demo at Google IO where Google Home arranged for a reservation at a restaurant by talking to a unsuspecting human, with its 'ums.' emulating a human.
I call you to imagine that your lyft has a car AI that know you from your mobility data from driving you daily on your usual routes.
Would you like to you autonomous lyft car AI talk to you?
Well, I am not talking about emulated small talks. You could talk to it about your route, ask about weather or instruct it on your entertainment needs. I want more.
Would you like to have a real conversation with your car?
When I was driving a lyft, I saw a stray puppy and asked my driver to pull over. She gave me the Animal Care Center number which I called and they came and picked up the dog and took it to a shelter. Would I even think of asking my Autonomous Vehicles in such a scenario?
Can my car testify against me?
This sounds crazy but is totally possible. In the case of the recent Uber accident where a jay walking cyclist was killed in Arizona, the Uber autonomous vehicle had information about what the car actually saw, the car speed and the road conditions. These were shared with the cops. Recently, we found out that the Uber car knew that the driver was watching Hulu when the accident happened.
My friend Gail Gottehrer, who is an AV expert introduced this idea that an autonomous vehicle could testify against us in court in the future. Gail will be speaking on this topic and the regulation and legal implications of AV data and GDPR at my upcoming AV Business Bootcamp (June 30/July 1st) at Stanford Continuing Studies. Join me if you are local near Stanford.
Can your car pay for your coffee?
This is an exciting thought that hit me recently as I was preparing for today's talk to Credit Union innovators in NY. Come join me if you are going to be at the Innovation Loft (Wed 26th).
Imagine your autonomous vehicle parking your car, and paying using Blockchain or a pre-approved banking option.
Now imagine driving on your usual route and stopping to pickup coffee. Why can't your car pay the drive-through and charge you for it just like my lyft driver would do today?
Just like M2M payment, I foresee a H2M or M2H (Machine to Human) payment option replacing or expanding the P2P payment space.
Here's my deck from my talk about the Future of Autonomous Transportation at the Innovation Loft.
Registration is open for my AV Business Bootcamp (June 30/July 1st) at Stanford Continuing Studies. I'd love to see you there if you can join on campus next weekend.
Are you in banking or finance? Would you agree on a H2M payment option? What do you see makes it easy or hard to implement?
Would you like your car talking with you or for you in court? Do you agree with this reality?
As always, I would love to hear your comment, question and experiences.
