Two friends are standing around talking. One is a financial advisor and he decides to make a friendly wager with his friend.
The financial advisor says to his friend “I will give you a 60% return on your $100 if you will give me a 50% return back.“
So the friend gets a 60% return on his $100 and now has $160. Then he gives the financial advisor his 50% return which is $80
The friend only has $80 now and is very unhappy. The financial advisor asks “What’s the matter, you just made a 10% return?”
It just goes to show you that percentages and interest are meaningless.
The next time you look at earnings, savings, gains, go for actuals, and not percentages. The actual amount you will have at the end of a transaction is how you’ll always have control of your money, instead of allowing others to control your money for you!
