The Council adopted its position on the green claims directive, aiming to tackle greenwashing and help consumers make informed, greener choices. The directive sets minimum requirements for substantiating, communicating, and verifying environmental claims, mandating clear, evidence-based claims verified by third-party experts, with simplified procedures for certain claims and support measures for microenterprises.?
4. Integrity Council Approves First High-Integrity Carbon Credits, Signaling Progress in Voluntary Carbon Markets
The Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market has approved the first carbon-crediting methodologies meeting its high-integrity Core Carbon Principles (CCPs), enabling the labeling of about 27 million carbon credits. This milestone supports private sector financing for emissions reduction. The announcement aligns with recent U.S. Government principles on high-integrity carbon credits, highlighting the growing recognition of voluntary carbon markets in climate action.
