Would You Eat This?

It's called Aspic. Generally, it's old-fashioned Jell-O made from boiling down bones to get a gelatinous thing you can stick savory (as in the opposite of sweet). Yeah, girl... yummy.

Things that we have simplified, standardized and boiled down now into an easy process like Jell-O, used to be harder. We cleaned it up, made it easy, and now it's a household item.

Similarly, back in the day when getting a merchant account, there was a fee to get set up. This is because you were helping to pay for the infrastructure they were building. Almost like using Kickstarter to beta something out. But that was in the '80s. Not now.

We still come across businesses that PAID to get set up. I don't mean the purchasing of a Point-of-Sale system (which there are free versions of, good versions too); I mean to get a basic black box terminal and account. This is highway robbery. They call it all kinds of names like paperwork fees, account access fees, and MID fees. They're all bogus. The names always change just like the colors of placebos, so you don't catch on.

We have seen people pay $900 for an account BESIDES any equipment. Just to get it set up. Imagine you were buying a car and the salesman said besides the cost of the car, I need you to pay me so I will sell you the car.
