Would you buy a new gearbox or car?..
As strange as it sounds, this is a question that has a huge relivance to the #automated gate market. This 2003 motor car has had an average life and is in pretty good condition, for its age and millage.
Its service book can show the level of care it has recieved and the log book may offer an idea of who has owner it from new.
The cost of a new gearbox fitted may be a worthy consideration and the owner could consider what level of return on this investment could be acheived. As the rest of the car is still fairly old, an expensive new gearbox will probably not add to the overall reliable life of the car itself.
The classes guide valuation for this 14 year old car, may suggest a similar car, in a similar state, would have a value that the owner may feel happy spending so much on a repair. The valuation could also show the cost of a new gearbox is too much and an alternative vehicle may be a better use of money?
What level of additional spend can be justified on an old #powered-gate-system?
What is old? and What should owners expect?
When should onwers be advised to look at a new installation, rather that spend lots of money on an old one, that could already be working beyond its original reliable life expectancy???...
