Workweek

I had the opportunity to organize the ‘workweek’ for the Browne research group. After corona it is nice that we can pick up our old habit of visiting other universities and companies with our whole research group. This workweek was in combination with the Danish Technical University and the Lund University (Dept. Chem. Phys).

During the first day, we visited Topsoe, a leading global developer and supplier of decarbonization technology, catalysts, and services for the energy transition followed by a visit to the research labs of the DTU ENERGY Department of Energy Conversion and Storage to see their multidisciplinary approach to research is focusing in electrochemical conversions.

I had the honor to chair a symposium with speakers from the three collaborating universities on the second day. Lectures from PhD students and group leaders gave us insight in new conversion technologies and analytical techniques.

After a day off to visit the beautiful city of Copenhagen, the last day was spent across the bridge in Lund for a visit to the MAXIV synchrotron facilities. We were really impressed by the research possibilities delivered by this ultra-modern facility (start of construction 2012). In the afternoon we had guided tours of ultrafast laser labs at Lund University, Dept. Phys. Chem ending with fika – the coffee and cake tradition Sweden is famous for.

I really express thanks to our hosts at Topsoe , MAXIV, and to Christina Wegeberg (Lund Uni), Johan Hjelm (DTU and Wesley Browne (UG) for making this workweek possible.??

Thank you Ruben Feringa for reaching out and coming by. It was a pleasure hosting and meeting you all, and we wish you the and the other PhD students the very best on finalizing your studies ????
