Worthy Hearts

In the right light we glow. We glow from the inner light we all possess. And it is this inner light I seek to capture. Because we are all beautiful. All of us. We are filled with kindness and joy. All of us. We are vessels of love. That’s what I have learned and observed doing portraits. People call them headshots but they are not merely headshots, they are soulshots. 

Sunlight and shadow reveal the soul. Can you feel it? It’s a feeling, not so much a perception. We are surrounded by souls. We see bodies but that is just an illusion. Just below the surface is a holy being. That’s how to approach this but not just this, all encounters between human beings. 

Look beyond skin and bone. Look beyond blood. What we are is not defined by biology. They say that it’s the heart that speaks. It’s the heart that feels. We rarely talk about the heart. But it’s more than an organ, a pump. There are 7.5 billion hearts on this planet and each one is worth knowing. I want to know your heart. 

Photography can reveal more than just identity. Photography can reveal our hearts. But you have to want that. You have to wear it on your sleeve. I don’t look at you as a subject to be photographed. I look at you as a worthy heart.
