Who doesn't ask themselves this question from time to time? Is it justified? Yes.
"Was it worth?" – This question is so simply phrased, yet incredibly profound. It carries a world of emotions, experiences, and decisions. When we ask it, we’re often reflecting on something that has left its mark: a challenge, an investment, a relationship, or perhaps even a moment of doubt.
The answer is rarely a straightforward yes or no. It’s not just about whether we gained or lost something. More often, it’s about what we learned along the way. Was the time we invested meaningful? Did we discover something about ourselves, maybe a strength or a limitation? Or did the process lead us to a new perspective that serves us today?
Sometimes we feel immediately afterwards that it wasn't worth it, perhaps because the result didn't meet our expectations, or it did correspond to the result and wasn't accepted by other people. There are many options here as to why we ask ourselves this one nagging question. But with a little distance and a second analysis, it often becomes clear that even the difficult experiences have their value. They educate us, help us grow and give us perspectives that we might never have gained otherwise.
Mostly the real question, then, is: What matters to you? Is it the success at the end, the achievement of a goal? Or is it the journey itself, with all its highs and lows, that truly counts? Here I find the quote from Saint Augustine very appropriate: "Right is right even if no one is doing it; wrong is wrong even if everyone is doing it.". No matter what or how, it is important to take these experiences with you, accept them and reflect on them. Perhaps the true worth of an experience lies in how it changed us, and not necessarily in whether it brought us what we initially hoped for.

1 个月"Was it worth it?" This question is not only mind-blowing, but very necessary to ask ourselves. Oliver-Werner, most times it's about what we learn along the way...and who we become. There's always an alternative perspective to almost everything. Every challenge presents us an opportunity to learn and grow.
