Worrying trend of un-approved items being installed in hospitality

For all of the designers, specifiers and owners of hotels, I was extremely shocked when I was recently approached regarding a major project that Demista was specified on, the mirror company was emailing around to get prices as normal with these types of projects, except they were asking for Demista UK, and Demista China made, which is not possible due to our trademark, however I spoke with the mirror company regarding this and their exact words was, they do not care, just want the cheapest pad, as they only guarantee it for a year! when our pad comes with a 10 year guarantee, the image above is what they installed in a hotel that cost 100's of millions of dollars to build, the pad has no manufacturer, voltage, wattage or approvals on it at all! Why are these type of items not being checked prior to installation, especially electrical items.
