Worrying, Fretting and Anxious?

Matt 6:25-34 teaches us not to be anxious about anything! The Lord Jesus himself mentions this 5 Times in this discourse and confirms that God is looking after us.

In business and life in general the uncertainties facing us can truly make us anxious, worrying about the future and the impact that this may have on us.

Many years ago a mentor once told me that over 80% of what we worry about never happens! I have not checked his statistic but in general I have found this to be true.

Much of what we are anxious about we can to nothing about anyway. A current example is the conflict around the world today with all the threats of nuclear responses. We can do nothing to change or impact the situation as anxious and worrying as it may be.

Spending time fretting about things we cannot change is a waste of the very energy that we need to deal with those things that we can change.

As the well known prayer goes:- Lord grant me the peace to accept the things I cannot change; the courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.

What is important though is the last part of the text v 32-33 which states;

For the nations seek after all these things. For your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you. 

It is so important to be focused on the things of God, seek Him diligently and be submitted to His will, trusting in His provision. Knowing that all we need will be added unto us through His Loving Grace.

I pray today for Peace and Calm to rest on and within us, in the knowledge that God is in control and that He will provide and take us through it all.
