Racing driver Akihiko Nakaya (62) was filming a race track in Beijing, China, on the 8th when a filming drone broke through the windshield and crashed into his face. He suffered a serious injury to his right eye. It was revealed on his Facebook page on the 9th.
"I suffered serious injuries to my right face and right eye, and the doctor stopped my scheduled return to Japan today because there is a fear that my eyeball will explode due to the decompression of the airplane." he said.
Nakaya was a graduate of Musashi Institute of Technology (Present Tokyo City University). In 1992, when he was participating in the All Japan F 3000, he signed a player contract with the F1 Bravham Team, but he could not make his F1 debut because the International Automobile Federation did not issue him the super license necessary to participate in F1.
He is also known as a theoretical driver and presides over "Nakaya Class" where he learns racing techniques through classroom study. The team produced Takuma Sato, who participated in Formula One and has been playing in IndyCar racing in the United States.
I want to know the details of the situation at the time of the accident. If you have any information, please share it. Anyow, I wish him a speedy recovery.
